You have a story in your mind
about what you should and shouldn't do,
And how if you live it right
you'll have the life that's meant for you.
You have a story in your mind
making everything right and wrong,
And in this constant evaluation
you are kept ever so strong.
You have a story in your mind
that in order to arrive,
You've got to do everything just right
or God will deny you access to live a "blessed" life.
You have a story in your mind
that says in order to be free,
You have to have everything that's missing
or happy you'll never be.
You have a story in your mind
from the experiences you've been through,
Yet if you would open up your eyes
you'd see another perspective that's even more true.
